"ROTARY AHEAD, guitarist Mike DiBari's new CD is a swinging session that demonstrates his flair for melodic classic jazz stylings and tasty blues solos." - DUKE ROBILLARD

"When I see the sign ROTARY AHEAD, I get the same feeling that I get right before I set out to play jazz. You’ve got to be ready for anything to happen, and you have to learn to go with it when it does. Unlike an intersection with a signal, in a traffic circle you have to keep moving while you decide where to go. Once you decide where you’re going to exit, you’ve got to dodge cars from every which way to get there! A fast bebop tune unfolds in much the same way. There’s a constant motion in the melody that you have to maintain. The harmony shapes your choice of notes when you improvise and depending on what you play and when, the song can go on the completely different way every time it’s played. Of course all this happens at 100mph! It’s also important to be sympathetic to the other players. Everyone in and around the circle has an influence to what the music finally sounds like. It’s all about listening, observing and reacting while keeping both hands on the wheel." - Mike DiBari
